Scott Birdwise is a writer, programmer, conference and event planner, book review editor, and lecturer. He has taught at various institutions in the Toronto area, including University of Toronto, Ryerson University, and OCAD University, where he has instructed courses on topics including documentary media, animation, and digital cinema. He holds a PhD in Cinema and Media Studies from York University, where he defended his dissertation, “The Place of Imagination: Humphrey Jennings and the Biopoetics of Everyday Life,” in September 2020. His published work can be found in the Canadian Journal of Film Studies, Animation Studies 2.0, and POV Magazine, as well as in various edited anthologies.
